Meet Crawford’s New CSO

Posted on April 16, 2022April 17, 2022 By blog

“I Left Crawford University as an Assistant Security Officer” says Crawford New CSO

The CSO; Mr Olugbenga John

Just like the popular saying, “the sky is the starting point” this could be related to anyone  who has found  the right campus  as  a  measure  to  aid  adequate  security,  the  Chief Security Officer noted that efforts is been made to sensitize its career part in the journey of life. This is so for the newly appointed Chief Security Officer of the University, Mr. Olugbenga  John,  whose  career  progression  is  indeed worthwhile to be crown one of the best amidst his counterpart Nationwide.

Speaking with the IPPR Team, the Chief Security Officer appreciated the University Management for giving him the opportunity to serve in the capacity of the CSO, while he reaffirmed adequate security on campus with the usual support and backing of the Management, Staff and Students, because security is everyone’s business. He revealed that his emergence as the CSO was ordained by God.

” Even though I have served in Redeemers University as the Chief  Security  Officer   for   a   while   and  later   trajected  to Adekunle  Ajasin  University  first  as  the  second  in  command then later as the CSO. But I knew it was time for me to come back home as ordained by God.

The Chief Security Officer also mentioned that aside from being a  former  Nigerian  Police  Officer  which  he  later  disengaged from to pursue other offers, noted that his passion for security services has no bound.

”  I was  once  a Nigeria Police Officer  as a  ‘Corpora’,   but  I disengaged when I had a better offer, but right from the onset I find security as a calling which I do with pleasure” he said.

Considering the inadequacy in the ratio of security manpower on  campus,  the  Chief  Security  Officer  has affirmed  that  the University Management is working hard to ensure more recruitment of security personnel on the campus.

Considering the inadequacy in the ratio of security manpower on  campus,  the  Chief  Security  Officer  has affirmed  that  the University Management is working hard to ensure more recruitment of security personnel on the campus.

“I will  say the University Management  is putting efforts to recruit more manpower soon” said Mr Gbenga. While the IPPR Team  inquired  about  bridging  the  communication  gap  on

campus  as  a  measure  to  aid  adequate  security,  the  Chief Security Officer noted that efforts is been made to sensitize its public on the use of their Identity Card at all times so as to differentiate us from our visitors. More so, establishing a warm  relationship  with students through  the Students body leadership (SRC) is essential.

Standing tall among other neighbouring University, Crawford University is blessed with the appointment of the self acclaimed

‘Security Boy’ (CSO) begin a seasoned security expert, having attained a ‘Fellow’ in the Institute of Security of Nigeria.

The University IPPR Team gleaned that the Chief Security Officer hailed from Ogun State in the Obafemi Owode Local Government Area. He is happily married and blessed with children. He loves to eat anything his wife cooks, and at his leisure he likes prayer jogging.

Indeed, life they say is a cycle to those who believes in evolution and a bridge to those who can navigate their way through. This can be said of the Chief Security  Officer who revealed that his coming back to Crawford was a prophesy ordained by God. “I once  told  the Crawford  first Vice Chancellor;  Prof  M.T. Ige, during my Sent-forth exit from the University in 2007, that I will come back to Crawford University but needed to go garner more experience.
